Howard A Trexler of Pleasant Grove passed away Wed, April 29th, 2009. He was born July 21, 1922 in West Lawn, PA to Howard A & Helen Trexler. He married Sarah Jane Gardner on Dec 5, 1944 in West Lawn, PA. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Howard grew up in West Lawn, PA and attended school where he graduated from Wilson High School. He was class vice- president during his junior year and class president during his senior year. He was also involved in the Safety Club and the High Y club. He joined the US Army-Air Corp during WWII. He served from July 18, 1941 to Oct 21, 1945 and worked in communications. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He met Jane during this time, married and later moved to Utah where they raised their children.
Howard owned and operated an ice cream shop, The Dandee Freeze in Alpine. He worked 18 years and retired from Utah State Prison. His interests included: collecting coins, genealogy, fishing, camping, dutch oven cooking and traveling with the Good Sam Club. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by seven children. Glenn (Patty) Trexler, David Trexler, Sandee (Roy) Higgins, Gerald (Nancy) Trexler, Ron Trexler, Merri Trexler, Kathy (Robert) Kresser, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, approximately 90 in all. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane, daughter Patti, grand-daughter Kayla, great-grand-son Daniel.

  2. I took care of your father, and he was such a wonderful man. Even though I only knew him since he was at Alpine Valley Care Center, he was just a joy to be around. He really was my favorite person to take care of, and I know that my co-workers felt the same way. I could also tell how much you loved your father, and it was nice to always see you come in and visit him, because sometimes people don't always get visits from their family, and it makes me so happy when they do. My prayers are with you and your family in your loss.
